Where we work

Where we work

Dorcas works in Eastern Europe, East Africa and the Middle East, where we reach over a million people every year. Our offices in fourteen countries are all led by local colleagues. Together, we invest in resilient communities where everyone can participate.

When disaster strikes, we provide emergency relief and support rebuilding efforts. At the same time, we work on lasting solutions to poverty and exclusion. Determination, integrity and compassion guide everything we do. On this page you can find out where exactly we work.

Eastern Europe

We have been working in Eastern Europe for over 45 years. What started with food transports to Romania has grown into programmes across Albania, Moldova, Ukraine and Romania, each country with its own challenges.

Our work in Eastern Europe focuses on elderly people and families in vulnerable situations. In Ukraine, we provide emergency relief. Our long presence in the region has given us a strong network of churches and partners, and together we work toward lasting change.

Africa

In 1989, famine broke out in Ethiopia. Dorcas sent a container of food. That was the start of our work in East Africa, and in the years that followed, our efforts in the region grew steadily.

Today, we are active in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania. Each country faces its own challenges, from poverty and conflict to drought and limited access to clean water, education and food.

Together with local churches and partners, we stand alongside families, young people and others in vulnerable situations. We provide immediate help where needed and work on solutions for the long term.

Middle East

Dorcas has been working in the Middle East for many years. The situation in the region has become increasingly complex. Many people are dealing with conflict, and ongoing instability has left widespread uncertainty.

We provide emergency aid to people who have been forced to flee. Together with local partners, we support people in rebuilding their lives. We offer training and help families start their own businesses, so they can provide for themselves.
