Lasting change for millions of people
A better livelihood for those in need. That is what we all work for every day. Over the past 40 years, Dorcas and the programme participants have been able to effect lasting change for millions of people. A collaboration of changemakers, you can partner with. We are proud to share some of our achievements with you.
Our programmes consist of multiple themes and approaches, ensuring that our interventions make a lasting change.
Programme highlights
We have implemented impactful programmes in collaboration with foundations and governments. We are proud to present a selection of these programmes:
- Our vocational training programme in Ethiopia has improved the livelihoods of over 20,000 people in the last five years.
- From February 2022 onwards, Dorcas has supported over 35,000 people in Ukraine with life-saving goods, working alongside the local population and UN-OCHA.
- The Dutch Hofsteestichting Foundation has been a Dorcas partner for many years. Together with the inhabitants of South Sudan, we have made lasting changes to their villages between 2021 and 2026.
- Following a successful pilot, the EU began funding our vocational training programmes to improve participants' prospects.
- In a unique collaboration between the Dutch foundation Pharus, the local government, the Egyptian NGO Life Vision and Dorcas, the Agri programme we implemented in Egypt improved the livelihoods of farming households by engaging women, children and men in local agrarian businesses.
Our impact focus areas
Dorcas applies seven programmatic themes to holistically accommodate those in need. All themes are viewed through the lens of inclusion and vulnerability, and community-based programming is established as the core approach for all our interventions. In addition, we operate within the triple nexus of humanitarian aid, development and peacebuilding.
We respond to acute and protracted crises through anticipatory action, lifesaving assistance and comprehensive recovery support.
We protect people vulnerable to poverty, exclusion, crisis and violence through integrated measures, targeted prevention and advocacy for systemic change.
We enable farmers and citizens to adapt, protect themselves, build resilience and flourish in the face of climate change impacts.
We partner with communities in vulnerable situations through collaborative, asset-based and conflict-sensitive approaches that enhance their capacity, resilience and quality of life.
We provide communities with access to clean water and promote its sustainable use so everyone can flourish as environmental conditions change.
We support people in finding sustainable livelihoods, increasing resilience and contributing to community wellbeing, with particular attention to food security.
We empower people to improve their job skills, start small businesses, and connect to inclusive markets to secure income and reduce poverty.
