What we do
Our seven programmatic themes
Our work focuses on empowering individuals and communities in Eastern Europe, Eastern Africa and the Middle East. We contribute to resilient communities, reduce poverty and social exclusion, and provide humanitarian assistance when disasters or crises occur.
We do this in collaboration with local partners, local Dorcas teams and international allies. Since Dorcas was founded in 1980, the work has evolved from emergency relief and basic services to programmes that facilitate lasting change.

Livelihoods and Food Security
We support livelihoods and food security as the foundation for resilient communities, ensuring access to food, clean water and vital resources.

Economic Development
We support people facing barriers to employment by equipping them with job skills, helping them set up businesses and connecting them to markets.

Protection
We safeguard people and prevent and respond to harm and abuse, ensuring dignity and providing support to those most at risk.

Climate Adaptation
We enable farmers and citizens to adapt, protect themselves, build resilience and flourish in the face of climate change impacts.

Community Development
We partner with communities in vulnerable situations through collaborative, asset-based and conflict-sensitive approaches that enhance their capacity, resilience and quality of life.

Crisis Response
We respond to acute and protracted crises through anticipatory action, lifesaving assistance and comprehensive recovery support.

Water
We provide communities with access to clean water and promote its sustainable use so everyone can flourish as environmental conditions change.
