Global Security Advisor
32-36 hrs per week
Location Almere / hybrid
In this role, you are the expert and advisor for the Executive Board, country offices and colleagues on matters of security and risk management across Dorcas worldwide. You will develop and safeguard the international security policy and support our country offices in analysing security risks. You will work closely with colleagues in the Netherlands, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, advising at both tactical and strategic levels on security issues, risks and travel. With your knowledge and experience, you will directly contribute to the safety of our staff, our projects and the communities in which we work.

What will you do?
- Develop, implement and maintain the international Dorcas security framework.
- Advise Country Directors and local Security Focal Points on security matters.
- Coordinate risk assessments and analyse incidents in cooperation with regional and international partners.
- Maintain and expand international networks (e.g. INSO, UN DSS, GISF, DSN, embassies, NGOs).
- Organise trainings, briefings and knowledge exchanges in the Netherlands and at our country offices.
- Play an active role in the Crisis Management Team and contribute to evaluations and improvement processes.
What do you bring?
- A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Conflict Studies, International Relations, Security Management or a related field.
- At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in security roles within an international humanitarian, development or emergency relief context.
- Experience working in complex, multicultural and high-risk environments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to assess complex security issues.
- Flexible, resilient and decisive – always with an eye for Dorcas’ mission.
- Culturally and organisationally sensitive, with the ability to work in challenging contexts.
- As a Christian, you fully identify with our mission, vision and core values, and you are willing to sign our Code of Conduct*.
- For this position, it is essential that you reside and work in the Netherlands and can travel freely.
What can you expect from us?
This challenging position offers you the chance to be part of an organisation that makes an impact. In this role, you will have a high degree of independence and the opportunity for further development. You will receive a salary of between €4,072 and €6,780 (based on 36 hours, scale 11 of the Social Work Collective Labour Agreement), depending on your experience. In addition, we offer attractive secondary employment conditions, including a non-contributory pension, flexible working hours and an appropriate working-from-home policy.
