Portraits of Power: stories of powerful women

Every day, we meet strong senior women who live in difficult circumstances. But despite their circumstances, these women have chosen to empower others and to help them to develop – not only themselves, but also the people around them. These women use their strength to advocate for changes in their communities, on an economic, social and political level. We want them to inspire you with their resourcefulness, their hope and their resilience. Which is why we have created this series of portraits.

Everyone deserves respect. Everyone’s human rights must be respected. These powerful women are no exception. In reality though, they are often marginalised, especially older women living in low-income countries or in countries in conflict. This much change.

Let’s stand by these women, acknowledge their worth and call for their rights to be respected.
