New emergency programme for 2,000 conflict-affected households in Southern Ethiopia
This week Dorcas started an impactful emergency programme for displaced people in Southern Ethiopia. We are grateful that this project is funded by IOM (International Organization for Migration). A huge boost for our work in Ethiopia!. Dorcas is an international organisation for relief and development, with local presence in Ethiopia since 1994. We strive for lasting change for those who live in poverty, are excluded, or are caught in a crisis.
The ultimate purpose of this project is to ensure that 2,000 conflict affected households in Amaro, will have access to shelter and basic household items to address their immediate shelter needs.
This project will facilitate the distribution of an emergency shelter kit and a cash hand-out. Moreover Dorcas provides information about COVID-19 protection and hand washing facilities will be placed at our distribution sides. We will also provide information and raise awareness about protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA).
The project will directly address a total of 12,000 beneficiaries. The International Organization for Migration has granted us $342,000 for this three-month project.
