Dorcas employees in Lebanon unharmed

A devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon’s capital city wreaked havoc on Tuesday night. At least 140 people were killed and 5,000 injured, while more than 300,000 people have become homeless. The explosion was near our Dorcas’ office.

Beirut is completely in ruins because of the explosion. Hundreds of thousands have been affected by the disaster. No Dorcas employees have been injured, but family members and friends have died or are wounded. Our office in Beirut is also damaged.

Relief
Our colleagues in Lebanon are preparing relief activities. We are currently assessing the needs for support. Presumably the aid will include protection, food and housing. Our efforts during this disaster will be aimed at the most vulnerable people.
