Exciting days in Kenya

Today the general elections are held in Kenya. This is an exiting moment, since the last elections in 2007/2008 ended with violence. More than 1,000 Kenyans were then killed in the aftermath of the elections, because of disagreement about the outcomes of the election.

Preparedness
The Kenyan security agency is prepared for incidences of violence during the current elections. Also Dorcas field office is prepared to provide assistance when necessary. There is contact with other organizations about the situation.

Intervention
Dorcas intervened also after the 2007/2008 elections. People who were affected by the post-election violence were provided with food and non-food items such as blankets.
